it was basim's birthday last Friday - so after the meeting of CABS (the campus baha'i club) at Ottawa U, we all walked over to Zak's Diner in the Byward market and had us some nice festivities. yay!

I've finally discovered the Quicker-post feature on buzznet. It may just make posting to buzznet a little more tolerable from now on!

Here's what the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival looked like on Saturday afternoon. As the sun was setting, all the sunlight just went ballistic and started playing around in the trees, on the grass, on the hills and all over, on the clouds and in the sky, even down into the reflections on the river. It was a welcome reprieve for the brave hopefuls who waited along the edge of Rockcliffe Park waiting fruitlessly for the balloons to float up... not enough wind or not enough lift or something. bummer.
I hope you're all doing well and that the shift into a new season and a new school year is treating you well. I didn't notice all that much.

crowds thronged Rideau St. right after the end of the fireworks on July 1st. No other day of the year sees such a sea of people overtake Ottawa...Happy Canada Day!
