basim!
Photo

it was basim's birthday last Friday - so after the meeting of CABS (the campus baha'i club) at Ottawa U, we all walked over to Zak's Diner in the Byward market and had us some nice festivities. yay!
There's a photoset on flickr if you want to check it out. As usual, my blog has plenty of mojo too. I've finally discovered the Quicker-post feature on buzznet. It may just make posting to buzznet a little more tolerable from now on! |

late afternoon on the labor dabor weekender

Here's what the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival looked like on Saturday afternoon. As the sun was setting, all the sunlight just went ballistic and started playing around in the trees, on the grass, on the hills and all over, on the clouds and in the sky, even down into the reflections on the river. It was a welcome reprieve for the brave hopefuls who waited along the edge of Rockcliffe Park waiting fruitlessly for the balloons to float up... not enough wind or not enough lift or something. bummer.
I hope you're all doing well and that the shift into a new season and a new school year is treating you well. I didn't notice all that much. As always, read all about it on my blog, and peruse more of my photos on flickr. (note: I'll be using flickr for most of my photoblogging from now on, but |

wacky sherbrooke youth
Photo
4 yrs 3 mos ago
This weekend, the intercity buses were kind enough to carry me down to Sherbrooke to enjoy the company of a bunch of fun-loving Baha'i youth. Catherine (left), a good friend of mine, is going to Gabon for a year of service in a few weeks, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to spend some time with her before she goes, as well as to visit with the rest of the local youth, most of whom I haven't seen in over a year (scandalous!!) Shamim (right) just got back from several months at a Native American reserve in South Dakota, and is suitably tanned. He didn't tell us a whole lot of stories about his experience, but he did bring back a car. A blue car. It has New Mexico plates and no keys. The ignition is a push-button. Bizarre.
Anyway, you can read about this (and MORE!) on |

a very lucky cup of coffee
Photo

I biked ten minutes down a busy thoroughfare and cozy residential streets with a cup of Tim Horton's coffee in my bottle holder, and it survived the trip with only minimal spillage onto the rim.
most amazing thing ever. |
